New Medical Facility Construction Underway
The U.S. board of Bwindi Uganda Children Charities (BUCC) has approved the funds for the construction of a medical clinic on the campus of Bwindi Eco Children Uganda (BECU). The clinic will primarily benefit the children’s home and school, but the community at large may also seek treatment. There are approximately 500 children who will benefit from it directly.
Construction will take about one month to complete.
This project is the next step in our many efforts to help improve the health and care of the children.
About a year ago BECU hired a full-time trained nurse who will supervise the new clinic, and who works with the children to improve overall health, including malnutrition.
BECU also purchased of 8.25 acres of land to provide quality, healthy food for the children, along with a program for 500 chickens for meat and eggs and 50+ head of milk goats to supplement the meals being provided 3 times a day.
One of our most important steps in the effort to improve the students health was the addition of a 230 ft deep water well to provide the first clean drinking water for the school, which included a free community tap. The water has storage tanks and is piped to every building on campus as well as the chicken and mushroom farm.
Plans for 2022 call for the purchase of an additional 8.5 acres of land for growing food stuffs, a security fence around the property, and playground equipment.
We invite you to join our team and support the Lord’s work in Bwindi, Uganda.
